Reinhard Kage, MD, PhD
Reinhard Kage, MD, Ph.D., is the board-certified immunologist and allergist at the Rheumatology and Allergy Institute of Connecticut, LLC in Manchester and Middletown, Connecticut. Dr. Kage is highly trained in diagnosing, treating, and medically managing immune and allergic diseases.
For more than two decades, Dr. Kage has demonstrated his commitment and passion for practicing medicine not only with his patients at Rheumatology and Allergy Institute of Connecticut, LLC but also while teaching future doctors and conducting research.
Dr. Kage earned his M.D. and Ph.D. degree in clinical biochemistry at the Free University in Berlin, Germany. Upon graduation, he worked as a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Experimental Medicine in Göttingen, Germany, discovering and studying neuropeptides.
After relocation to the United States, Dr. Kage has conducted extensive research in neuroscience, first as a research fellow at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Massachusetts, and then as part of the faculty at the pharmacology department at Boston University in Boston.
Dr. Kage completed a residency in internal medicine residency at the UMass Medical School in Worcester, Massachusetts, and rounded up his postdoctoral clinical training with an immunology/allergy fellowship at the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in Bethesda, Maryland.
His teaching credentials include serving as an adjunct clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine. Prior to his focus on internal medicine, Dr. Kage was part of the faculty at Boston University’s department of pharmacology. He was also a visiting scientist at both the NIH National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and on the faculty of George Washington University in Washington, D.C. heading the asthma and allergy clinic there.
Barbara Kage, MD, FACR
Board-certified rheumatologist Barbara Kage, MD, FACR, is the President at Rheumatology and Allergy Institute of Connecticut, LLC in Manchester and Middletown, Connecticut. Dr. Kage is highly trained in diagnosing and managing complex rheumatic disorders, with special focus on arthritis, osteoporosis, and autoimmune inflammatory diseases.
Her practice integrates excellent medical care with comprehensive, on-site diagnostic and therapeutic services.
Dr. Kage began her medical career as a student at the Medical University of Lublin in Poland. Upon graduating with her medical degree, she went on to complete a rotating internship in Australia at Monash University in Melbourne, Royal Melbourne Hospital and Dandenong Hospital.
Dr. Kage continued her postdoctoral training with an internal medicine residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester and a rheumatology fellowship training program at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Kage is American board-certified in rheumatology, a Fellow of American College of Rheumatology, and is American College of Rheumatology certified in Rheumatology Musculoskeletal Ultrasonography.
Dr. Barbara Kage is a member of the American College of Rheumatology, American College of Physicians, and the Connecticut Rheumatology Society. She holds medical privileges at multiple hospital networks, including Eastern Connecticut Healthcare Network, Hartford Hospital, and Saint Francis Hospital.
When she isn’t helping patients at Rheumatology and Allergy Institute of Connecticut, LLC, Dr. Kage shares her expertise in rheumatology with medical students and medical residents as an adjunct clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine.
